Gainesville, Fla. — Freshman Jonathan India hit a home run leading off the eighth inning to break a 5-5 tie and give top-seeded Florida, the nation's No. 1 overall seed, a hard-fought 6-5 victory over No. 4 UConn in the winners' bracket of the NCAA tournament's Gainesville Regional on Saturday night at McKethan Stadium.

"I was sitting dead-red fastball and I got my good pitch," India told www.floridagators.com. "I'm just glad it went out."

The hit came off UConn reliever Devin Over and sent the Gators (49-13) into Sunday's championship round at 6 p.m. UConn and No. 2 Georgia Tech, a 12-3 winner over No. 4 Bethune-Cookman earlier Saturday, will meet at noon Sunday in an elimination game.

The winner will then have to beat Florida twice (a second game, if necessary, will be played on Monday). UConn beat Georgia Tech 7-6 in Friday's first game of the regional.

The Huskies (38-24) battled against Florida ace A.J. Puk, battling back from a 5-2 deficit to tie the game in the fifth. Ex-Fitch great Aaron Hill cut the deficit to 5-3 with a bases-loaded single, Zac Susi sprinted home moments later on a wild pitch and Willie Yahn hit a sacrifice fly off reliever Dane Dunning to tie the game.

UConn ace Anthony Kay, like Puk projected to be a high pick in the upcoming Major League Baseball draft, allowed five runs on eight hits over 5.2 innings.

UConn's first run came on a Bobby Melley solo blast in the first.
