UConn is experiencing a different kind of March Madness.

The Huskies lost their third basketball player in about a week with incoming recruit Makai Ashton-Langford asking out of his signed national letter of intent and re-opening his search.

Sophomore center Steven Enoch and freshman forward Vance Jackson both recently announced that they're planning to transfer.

Ashton-Langford, a 6-foot-2 guard out of Brewster (N.H.) Academy, tweeted his plans on Friday.

"I would like to thank the University of Connecticut for the opportunity but due to recent turn of events I have been granted my release and will reopen my recruitment without limitations and will discuss my decision over with my family," Ashton-Langford wrote.

His loss leaves the Huskies with only eight players for next season's roster — five returning scholarship players (guards Jalen Adams, Christian Vital and Alterique Gilbert and forwards Terry Larrier and Juwan Durham) and three newcomers (forwards Eric Cobb, Josh Carlton, Tyler Polley).

It's been a tumultuous time for the men's basketball program.

UConn announced Saturday that associate head coach Glen Miller was leaving. Coach Kevin Ollie informed Miller the day after the regular season ended that he was making a change. Ashton-Langford told ESPN that Miller's departure played a factor in his decision.

Ollie replaced Miller with Raphael Chillious, a former Washington associate head coach and long-time  friend.

This is a crucial spring recruiting period for the Huskies, who'll be attempting to rebound next season from their first losing season in 30 years.
