Swabs face the challenges of Sea Trials
Whether struggling to carry a 40-foot log, or a pair of inflatable boats, or mastering the obstacle course, or their marching drills, the incoming members of the Coast Guard Academy class of 2026 rounded out Swab Summer with Sea Trials Friday.
The Sea Trials are a series of physical, team-building challenges that marks the end of their seven-week Swab Summer indoctrination. Sea Trials challenges include carrying a log for a lap around the academy, carrying an inflatable raft around the academy track, survival at sea, the obstacle course, a drug search simulation, drill competition and other challenges.
The Swabs will receive their shoulder boards Monday, officially joining the corps of cadets.
