Grasso Tech given rebate check for electricity savings
Groton — Ella T. Grasso Technical High School is saving electricity at its new school building, Groton Utilities announced.
The school building includes about 2,800 energy-efficient lighting features, and the school received a rebate check for $85,931 from Groton Utilities during a ceremony earlier this month, according to the utility.
"By installing energy-efficient lighting throughout the school Grasso Tech will realize an annual kilowatt per hour (kWh) savings over baseline building code of 184,580 kWh and a lifetime savings of approximately 2,768,700 kWh, saving the school a tremendous amount on its electric bill," Groton Utilities said in a post on its website, grotonutilities.com.
