    Adams commits to UConn

UConn's summer recruiting season is off to a good start.

Highly-regarded Jalen Adams, a 6-foot-2 guard, has given the Huskies an oral commitment. He made his decision after visiting the Storrs campus on Sunday with his parents.

Adams announced the news today on his Twitter account. "I Have Officially Decided That I Will Continue To Purse My Dream At The University of Connecticut And Play for Coach Kevin Ollie #Huskies"

Adams is from the same hometown -- Roxbury, Mass. -- as Shabazz Napier, who led UConn to two national championships before graduating this spring. Napier was selected 24th in the NBA Draft on Thursday and traded to Miami.

"Seeing what coach Ollie did with a local guard from where I'm from, it definitely made a difference," Adams told ESPN.com, "and made me believe that if I put in the same amount of work that I could potentially end up with a similar opportunity."

ESPN ranks Adams 33rd in the Class of 2015. He attends Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass.

Louisville and Kansas also were in the running for Adams.
