Final touches at the Wee Faerie Village
Old Lyme ― Artists and volunteers set up their pieces for the Wee Faerie Village at the Florence Griswold Museum on Thursday.
Friends Dawn Bisharat, of Madison, and Michele Mergy, of Old Lyme were participating for the first time after volunteering at the museum for years and collaborated on “Esmerelda’s Magic House of Mirrors.” They spent four months working on the house covered in glass and moss and two days installing it.
“We thought it was time to get our hands dirty,” said Bisharat, “literally, there’s so much glue.”
Jessica Zeedyk, of Cromwell, first visited the event about 10 years ago with her daughter and has participated the past eight or nine.
“I had never seen something like this before,” she said of her first visit. “I knew I’d love it.”
This year’s theme for the outdoor exhibit is “Twinkle Point: An Amusement Park for the Wee Faerie Folk.” There are 26 pieces this year, from roller coasters to a house of mirrors, including work from six local schools. The exhibit runs through October. See https://florencegriswoldmuseum.org/wfv/ for more information.
