    LeadingAge Connecticut names Sen. Heather Somers its Legislator of the Year

    LeadingAge Connecticut has named state Sen. Heather Somers, R-Groton, as its 2019 Legislator of the Year.

    The award is given to “legislators who have distinguished themselves by developing and supporting public policies that are beneficial to LeadingAge Connecticut members and the older adults they serve.”

    The organization presented its award Tuesday to Somers at Grille 92 at Fairview in Groton.

    LeadingAge Connecticut describes itself “as a membership organization representing over 130 not-for-profit and mission-driven provider organizations serving older adults and disabled individuals across the continuum of services, supports and housing, including nursing homes, residential care homes, housing for the elderly, life plan communities, adult day services, home health care agencies and assisted living.”
