Ana Gasteyer sings at the Kate

Ana Gasteyer is a comedian, as fans know from six seasons on “Saturday Night Live.” Her turns as one of the NPR “Delicious Dish” hosts and as Martha Stewart may not have hinted her singing prowess, but one of her other “SNL” characters did: music teacher Bobbie Mohan-Culp, who, with hubby Marty Culp (played by Will Ferrell), sang nerdy versions of the likes of “Turn Down for What.”

The truth is Gasteyer is a wonderful singer, as her gigs will attest. She starred in Bertolt Brecht’s “The Threepenny Opera” on Broadway and portrayed Elphaba in “Wicked” both in the Chicago company and on Broadway.

Gasteyer has put together a concert where her vocal range is on display, in dynamic songs like “Defying Gravity” from "Wicked." She brought her show to the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in 2016, to great acclaim; it was recorded for “The Kate” TV series that airs nationally on PBS.

Gasteyer is in concert again Saturday at The Kate, where she’ll dive into such diverse tunes as “One Mint Julep” and her own version of “Before He Cheats.”

Ana Gasteyer, 3 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook; $56-$64; (860) 510-0453.
