Beware the killer rabbits: 'Spamalot' comes to the Garde

    “Bring out your dead!”

“Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries.”

    “It’s just a flesh wound.”

We could go on. But if you’re already giggling by reading those three lines, have we got a show for you: “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” whose tour is coming to the Garde Arts Center for a performance Saturday.

If ever there were a musical to chase away those winter blues, this is it — silly, gut-bustingly funny, with some giddy songs wedged into all that comedy.

“Spamalot,” of course, is the musical adaptation of the 1975 movie “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” Python’s Eric Idle did the book for the stage version, and he collaborated on the songs with John Du Prez.

After it hit Broadway in 2005, “Spamalot” was nominated for a whopping 14 Tony Awards, and it nabbed three, including the title of Best Musical.

    “Monty Python’s Spamalot,” 8 p.m. Saturday, Garde Arts Center, 325 State St., New London; $39-$65; (860) 444-7373, www.gardearts.org.
