    Drummer Liviu Pop performs Thursday at Norwich Arts Center

    Norwich Arts Center's “Blues on Broadway” series will feature Liviu Pop & Friends with guest Matt Schofield at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the center at 62 Broadway in Norwich.

    Liviu Pop is a versatile drummer who plays a wide variety of genres, including blues, soul, funk, jazz, electronic and experimental. 

    He was inducted into the Connecticut Blues Hall of Fame in 2018. He has played all over the region, much of New England, the United States, and still returns to Europe three or four times a year.

    He has performed with a virtual who’s who of blues artists, including Hubert Sumlin, Sam Lay, Lucky Peterson, Debbie Davies, Lil’ Dave Thompson, and Toni Lynn Washington.

    Guitarist Matt Schofield was born in Manchester, England, and is now based in the United States. He has fronted his own band for nearly 20 years. He was rated among the top ten British blues guitarists of all time by Guitar and Bass Magazine. 

    Tickets are $25 for general admission; $23 for seniors/military/students; $20 for NAC members. They are available at www.norwicharts.org. They are $28 at the door.
