Paula Poundstone brings her comedy to the Kate

    Paula Poundstone (Contributed)

Paula Poundstone is one of my favorite people to interview.

I’ve done phone Q&As with her several times over the years, most recently in 2018. She’s chatty, witty, warm and willing to talk about pretty much any subject — and she makes every one of those subjects hilarious.

Which is what you can expect if you bought tickets to see her perform Friday at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center. And if you haven’t bought tickets, that’s a shame: the show is sold out.

But you can get a sense of why Poundstone is such a comic treasure by listening to her podcast “Nobody Listens to Paula Poundstone” or catching her on the NPR comedy news show, “Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me!” And that’ll make you want to buy tickets for whenever she performs here again.

Paula Poundstone, 8 p.m. Friday, Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, 300 Main St., Old Saybrook; sold out; katharinehepburntheater.org.
