    Raven's Woods

A footbridge crosses a stream a short way into the walk.

    Raven's Wood

    Town: East Lyme

Directions: From I-95, take Exit 72 (Rocky Neck). At end of exit, take a left onto Rt. 156. In about 1.5 miles, turn right onto Fairhaven Road. Follow about a half mile and turn right onto Brainard Road. Drive to the end of Brainard; a parking area is on the right.

Where to Park: A small dirt parking area at the entrance includes parking for 3 to 4 cars.

Description: Raven's Woods is 22 acres of woods that sits along the Pattagansett Rier as it flows south near Giant's Neck. The main trail is about a half mile out and back and is generally wide with good footing. There are two side paths that branch off of the main trail. There are a few areas with roots and divots.

Regulations: No hunting or motorized vehicles allowed.

Amenities: Picnic tables and a low-impact campsite. Permits for the campsite are available through the East Lyme Land Trust Inc. See

    www.eastlymelandtrust.com

Natural Features: Views of the Pattagansett River, streams, a large oak tree, bird-watching.

    Fees: None.

Things to Note: A number of side trails branch off of the Raven's Wood trail. Though not a part of the Raven's Wood trail system, they are well established and generally easy to follow. Many of them appear to be biking trails built over the years by the nearby subdivisions.
