Foolish not to heed the words of Islamofascists

I join with the author of the letter "Is United States at risk from the soft Jihad," published Aug. 26, which was in response to the Rev. David Good's commentary "A cure for the disease of Islamophobia," published Aug 22.

    • Come with me (and 52 other U.S. diplomats) for a 444-day tour as a hostage in an American embassy. (1980)

    • Come with me and ride a wheelchair off the cruise ship Achille Lauro with Jewish-American passenger Leon Klinghoffer. (1985)

    • Come with me and kneel with Nick Berg as he says his final prayers prior to beheading. (2004)

    The list goes on ...

There are many wonderful Muslims in our communities; but we would be foolish not to acknowledge the words of Islamofascists who continue to horrify us with their disregard for life and basic human coexistence.

I do not care about "the Mosque" or its location. I do agree that some extremists consider U.S. sympathizers such as Rev. Good as "useful idiots."

Some politicians feel the same way about their constituents.

To shift gears, I only hope our new health care reform will provide me with enough free medicinal marijuana to cure me of "Islamophobia." At the very least, it may mellow me enough that I stop crafting letters that have meaning to only a few conscious folks.
