Ensign didn't know he signed on to military?

I have a suggestion to solve Ensign Michael Izbicki's dilemma. ("ACLU sues for ensign seeking to leave Navy over beliefs," Nov. 4.)
In exchange for his accepting responsibility and signing a student loan to reimburse the government for the entire cost of his education at taxpayers' expense, give him a general discharge.
Don't give him an honorable discharge because he was complicit in the deception of being a conscientious objector when he applied for and accepted the appointment to the Naval Academy.
What did he think it was, a canoe club?
Give me a break.
