HS Basketball: Winter is upon us

What better way to avoid Christmas shopping than to attend a sporting event? There's a perfect opportunity this week.

The winter sports season begins Wedneday night with several girls' high school basketball games throughout the region. Bacon Academy, the runner-up last season in the Eastern Connecticut Conference, opens its season vs. Griswold. Bacon features all-state guard Kate Mahoney. Among the other marquee games in Plainfield at Stonington. The Bears have four starters returning.
