Hartford (AP) — A bill that's supposed to help grow jobs in Connecticut includes $180 million to be spent over two years to help give a boost to small businesses.

The proposal, released by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's office, also calls for streamlining regulation and investing $25 million in start-up companies. It also includes $20 million over two years on expanding and establishing manufacturing technology programs at three community colleges and vocational technical high schools.

The bill also authorizes a second round of Malloy's "First Five" initiative, which provides incentives to companies.

A hearing was scheduled Thursday on the bill, as well as funding for a lab at the University of Connecticut Health Center. Final details of the jobs bill were still being settled. A special session will be held Oct. 26.
