80 sailors graduate from Basic Enlisted Submarine School
Groton — Eighty sailors, “Class 11480/11490,” USS Albacore (SS-218), graduated from Basic Enlisted Submarine School on Nov. 4.
Seaman David Holmes was the class honorman. Fireman Recruit Anthony Licitra received the Submarine League’s William Purdum Award for most improved student. Seaman Apprentice Sean Vandausdal received the Navy League Award for his academic efforts.
Seaman Christopher Cavallacci received the Submarine Veterans Heritage Award as class leader and Fireman Recruit Carl Klecha was meritoriously advanced.
Seaman Recruit Cory Welch, Seaman Recruit Michael Parks, Seaman Darin Worley, Seaman Nicholas Marion, Seaman Ryan Gartley, Seaman Recruit Maurice Cicmanec, Seaman Recruit Roy Turner, Seaman Apprentice William Smith, Seaman Patrick Davis, Fireman Recruit Adam McHugh, Seaman Apprentice Dale Bowles, Seaman Gerald Joyce, Seaman Recruit Nathaniel Rambaud, Seaman Matthew DiMaggio and Aviation Electronics Technician Second Class Joseph Bongiorgno were graduates with distinction.
