Foreclosure moratorium topic of conference

A moratorium on foreclosures and evictions will be the topic of a national conference March 31 in Detroit.

The Moratorium NOW! Coalition to Stop Foreclosures, Evictions & Utility Shutoffs will plan a campaign to halt foreclosures nationwide.

"Strategies for challenging the banks in the courts and in the streets will be shared," according to the website www.workers.org, which noted one group's plans this spring to move people back into foreclosed homes. Activists in Detroit also are planning a protest March 13 against Chase Bank's efforts to foreclose on eight homes in the city.
