Police: Connecticut man dragged horse tied to pickup

STAFFORD, Conn. (AP) — State police say they're considering filing criminal charges against a Stafford man accused of dragging a horse tied to his pickup truck.

Troopers say Culver Modisette's horse got loose early Sunday morning and ended up on a neighbor's property. Police say when Modisette found his horse later in the day, it wouldn't obey his commands and he used rope to tie it to the back bumper of his pickup.

A neighbor took several photographs that show the horse resisting being pulled by the truck and ending up on its side.

The 86-year-old Modisette told WFSB-TV that he believed he had no other choice but to try to pull the horse, but insisted he had no malicious intent. The horse wasn't seriously hurt.

Troopers and Stafford's animal control officer are investigating.
