Sun continue road trip with game against Sparks

The Connecticut Sun continue their three-game road trip tonight as they play the Los Angeles Sparks at the Staples Center (CPTV Sports, 11 p.m.)

The Eastern Conference-leading Sun (22-8) have a 1 1/2 game lead over Indiana with four games remaining.

The Fever (20-9) have five games left. They play host to the WNBA champion Minnesota Lynx tonight and play at Minnesota Monday.

    Indiana plays at Connecticut Wednesday.

Sun center Tina Charles will probably play tonight's game, head coach Mike Thibault said. She sat out Wednesday's 100-78 win at the Phoenix Mercury in order to rest nagging injuries.

Charles has averaged 33.5 minutes, the third-most in the WNBA. She's also averaged a team-high 18.2 points and 10.6 rebounds.

Kara Lawson made six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 30 in Wednesdays' win over Phoenix. She also had eight rebounds and seven assists.

Reserve Mistie Mims, who started in Charles' absence, had 15 points and nine rebounds for Connecticut. Kalana Greene added 14 points and reserve Danielle McCray scored 13.

Olympian Candace Parker has averaged 16.9 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.28 blocks for the Sparks (20-10). Kristi Toliver has averaged a team-best 18.1 points and 4.9 assists, while rookie Nneka Ogwumike has averaged 13.1 points and 7.3 rebounds.
