SITI Company - the experimental theater collective - returns to Connecticut College a year and a half after presenting its "Radio Macbeth" here. Its new work is "Trojan Women (after Euripides)," based on Euripides' famous story, and a performance is set for Saturday in Palmer Auditorium.

This adaptation by Jocelyn Clarke does take its cue from the original Euripides - Troy falls to Greece, and Queen Hecuba and Troy's other royal women become prisoners of Greek soldiers - but it also reworks elements and makes it resonate even more with modern audiences.

The main characters here are Hecuba, her clairvoyant daughter Kassandra, her noble daughter-in-law Andromache, and Helen of Sparta, romantically linked to Hecuba's son Paris.

The production was commissioned by the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles and had its debut a little over a year ago at the Getty Villa in Malibu.
