    Association of Fundraising Professionals To Honor Trenton Wright With Barbara Marion Award

    Trenton Wright, CFRE, CEcD, Coordinator of Institutional Advancement at Middlesex Community College, is the recipient this year of the Barbara Marion Award for Outstanding Leadership to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). The award will be presented at the Connecticut Philanthropy Day luncheon on Nov. 15, 2012 at the Trumbull Marriott.

    This award is presented jointly by the Connecticut and Fairfield County Chapters of AFP. It recognizes an AFP member who demonstrates outstanding leadership and service to the association.

    Mr. Wright, is an active member of the Connecticut AFP Chapter. He has been a member of the chapter board for over 5 years, previously serving as Chapter Vice President, and currently serving as Scholarship Chair.

    Mr. Wright has been the co-coordinator and an instructor of the highly successful CFRE Review Course, in cooperation with the Fairfield AFP Chapter, for 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012. Mr. Wright received his CFRE designation in 2000 and regularly mentors other professionals seeking the CFRE designation.

    Mr. Wright was 1999 recipient of the Deane C. Avery Award from The Day for advancing the cause of freedom of information and freedom of speech in the state of Connecticut regarding the Ct Meghan's Law Case involving the murder of a young female local newspaper carrier in Willimantic by a sexual predator.

    Mr. Wright secured his MPA from the University of Connecticut in 1979 and passed the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) exam in 2000 becoming only one of six CEcD’s in Connecticut. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Economic Development Association, the largest statewide organization representing economic development professionals.

    Mr. Wright has served as the Coordinator of Institutional Advancement at Middlesex Community College since 2000. Mr. Wright initiated the annual Middlesex Community College Foundation $cholarship 5K Run & Walk in 2004 and in 2011 it became one of the largest fundraising events in college history.
