New London - The next workshop in the process of creating an urban village at the Hodges Square Business District will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Polish American Veterans Club, 51 Central Ave.

Landscape architect Brian Kent will address ways to make the area inviting and create a sense of place where people linger and relax. He will present conceptual plans exploring the potential of the Williams Street corridor from Connecticut College to the I-95 bridges and solicit input from workshop participants.

Art Costa and Jerry Sinnamon will address how the business community wants to create both short- and long-term initiatives for development. Participants will brainstorm the best way to launch one or more organizations responsible for proposing and overseeing business and public space improvements in northeast New London.
