    Two classes graduate from Naval Submarine School

    Groton — Two classes graduated recently from the Naval Submarine School.

    Forty-four sailors of “Class 12170” graduated from the Submarine Electronics Computer Field Apprentice course Feb. 7. 

    Seaman Christopher Shaffer, Seaman Mclean Grindy and Seaman Thomas Dickson were class honormen. Seaman Apprentice Zachary Frank, Seaman David Kempfert, Seaman Apprentice Ethan Blythe and Seaman Apprentice Phillip Hawkins received Personal Excellence Awards. Grindy, Seaman Apprentice Johnson Connor and Seaman Garber Anthony were meritoriously advanced. 

    Eighty-four sailors, “Class 13100,” USS Springfield (SSN-761), graduated from Basic Enlisted Submarine School Feb. 8.

    Seaman Anthony Rowe, the class honorman, received the Navy Core Values Award. Seaman Daniel McCauley, the class leader, received the Heritage Award.

    Seaman Apprentice Thomas Stewart, Seaman Apprentice Cirilo Zamora, Seaman Apprentice Daniel Martin, Fireman Daniel-Fidel Perez, Machinist Mate Third Class Lars Trygstad, Seaman William Chaney, Logistics Specialist Second Class Kongwing Lookfong, Seaman Joseph Pasternacki, Seaman Christopher Wilcox, Seaman Apprentice Joel Garcia, Seaman Taras Kulakov, Seaman Apprentice Richard Bumgarner and Master-at-Arms Second Class Guelmy Camacho-Alvarez were graduates with distinction.
