    Waterford police rescue motorcyclist in woods

    Waterford fire and police officers perform a rough terrain rescue of an injured motorcyclist from the woods behind Devonshire Drive in Waterford Wednesday evening March 13, 2013. It took emergency crews roughly a half hour to locate the victim due to how deep into the woods the accident occurred. A Waterford Police ATV was used to help extricate the victim from the woods.

    Waterford - A 22-year-old man who crashed his motorcycle on the former Waterford Airport property between Interstate 95 and Fog Plain Road Wednesday evening was taken by ambulance to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for injuries police said were not life-threatening.

    Waterford police used ATVs for the rough terrain rescue, reported at around 6:30 p.m. Assisting were firefighters from the Oswegatchie, Jordan and Cohanzie fire departments.

    Sgt. Roger Reed said the man, whose name he did not release, was the sole rider involved in the crash, which as of 9:30 p.m. Wednesday was still under investigation.
