A musical "Executive Session" in Mystic

Anytime something is billed as an "Executive Session," the assumption is that it's one of those life-coach/motivational speaker deals - and THEN the inclination is to run like hell in the other direction.

Fear not.

The Executive Session: Flute, Piano & Percussion, though, which takes place Sunday in Stonington at the Mystic Independent Theater, is a musical gathering. Percussionist Mance Grady, pianist Glenn Hardy and flutist Michael "Skip" McKinley - versatile and killer players, all - will present an afternoon concert exploring the roots of New England folk music.

The Executive Session. 4 p.m. Sunday, Mystic Independent Theater, 107 Wilcox Road, Stonington; $15 at the door; skipmckinley.com.
