Two Groton Town police officers promoted
Groton - Groton Town police officials on Monday recognized two recently promoted officers and held a ceremonial swearing-in for two newly minted police officers.
Bridget Nordstrom, a 16-year-veteran, was promoted to the rank of investigator in November and is now assigned to the special services division. Previously assigned to the patrol division, she served as a community policing officer and field training officer and was assigned to the bike patrol and traffic unit. She has also worked with the Statewide Narcotics Task Force, the Groton Narcotics Unit and a specialized federal task force targeting narcotics and guns.
Nordstrom has twice been awarded the department's Drug Interdiction Award and is a 2012 recipient of a U.S. Attorney's Award.
Nordstrom is trained in crime scene processing and interviewing and received specialized training for interviewing child victims. She is also a certified D.A.R.E. instructor.
Officer David Miner was promoted to the rank of patrol sergeant in May. Hired in 2004, Miner has served as a field training officer and community policing officer. He has also served with the Statewide Narcotics Task Force, the Groton Narcotics Unit and a specialized federal task force targeting heroin and cocaine sales in the region.
Police on Monday welcomed Officers Eric Korte weg and Joshua Teft. Both were hired on March 27 and have graduated from the 22-week program of the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training basic recruitment class at the state police academy. They have since completed a 16-week field training program.
Korteweg is lifelong resident of Groton and graduate of Robert E. Fitch Senior High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice with a minor in psychology from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. At the academy, he was awarded the Connecticut State Police TFC Allan Tuskowski Award for Excellence for achieving the highest overall performance.
Teft is from Preston and a graduate of Three Rivers Community College, where he earned a degree in criminal justice.
