Niantic boardwalk open

Pedestrians walk the newly completed and re-opened section of the Niantic Bay Boardwalk near Cini Park in Niantic Wednesday. Amtrak rebuilt a portion of the walk near the new railroad bridge. The town received $3.1 million in legal settlements from previous storm damages, with the possibility of additional funding from a Superstorm Sandy settlement, to rebuild the town's portion of the boardwalk. Construction is scheduled to begin around Labor Day, with planned completion for spring 2014.
