Bozrah man dies after falling from Rhode Island bridge

Providence — A worker from Bozrah has died after falling from the Mount Hope Bridge.

The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority said an employee of a subcontractor doing steel painting and repair work on the bridge fell about 70 feet Tuesday morning. The worker was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he later died.

Bristol police identified the man as 45-year-old David Dupee of Bozrah.

RIBTA suspended work on the Mount Hope Bridge and the Newport Pell Bridge after the accident, which is being investigated by the federal Occupational Safety & Health Administration.

RIBTA chairman David Darlington said the agency has extended its deepest sympathies to the worker's family, friends and co-workers.
