Norwich Democrats endorse new candidate for City Council

Norwich - A licensed family therapist was endorsed unanimously Thursday night by the Democratic Town Committee to run for City Council, replacing a candidate who dropped out of the race last week.

William Eyberse, 61, a marriage and family therapist with a private practice in Norwichtown, was endorsed for the ballot. He replaces Marissa Way, who withdrew last week.

Eyberse, a political newcomer, said he has wanted to become involved in politics and "this door just opened." He said as an owner of a small business, he would bring a new perspective to the council.

"It's an opportunity and a way to serve and get involved in the community," Eyberse said.

Eyberse is husband of Kaye Eyberse, coordinator of youth and family services for Norwich Human Services.
