Steely Dan in concert at MGM Grand at Foxwoods

    Donald Fagen of Steely Dan

    Amusing names R us.

Steely Dan are calling their current tour "Mood Swings: 8 Miles To Pancake Day Tour." (Where'd it come from? During a conference call with reporters, Donald Fagen said, "We put up 'Mood Swings,' that was the easy part, and then we were reminiscing about the old TV show, 'Route 66,' and we remembered how in those days they used to name TV episodes using very eccentric titles like, 'Who's Afraid of the Muffin Man.' So we decided we were going to have a subtitle for our Mood Swings tour.")

On said "8 Miles to Pancake Day Route," the band playing with Walter Becker and Fagen is dubbed The Bipolar AllStars.

The singers backing them up, meanwhile, are The Borderline Brats.

See what happens when Steely Dan bring the tour to MGM Grand at Foxwoods on Saturday. The concerts have been getting good reviews so far, with an Orlando Sentinel critic, for instance, writing, "Steely Dan made it all work in a well-paced, precisely delivered performance that exhibited the group's impressive range, a reach that extends from the atmospheric interludes to the show-closing string of catchy pop hits."

    "Reeling in the Years," anyone?
