Large piles of accumulated brush and leaves burned overnight on a 10-acre section of the Borelli Farm off Warner Road on the North Haven/North Branford border yesterday. Thick smoke from the blaze could be seen for miles away.
The call came into the fire department around 2:10 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10. Members of the North Haven, East Haven, and North Branford fire departments responded. The fire may takes days to be completely quenched
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection continues to list today's forest fire level as "high"; levels of high, very high, or extreme mean that even those with open burning permits may not burn within 100 feet of grassland or forest.
