Ledyard police arrest Uncasville man for Oct. 31 car accident

Ledyard - Uncasville resident Kyle Fox, 23, turned himself in to Ledyard police Friday after learning of a warrant for his arrest in connection with a motor vehicle accident that took place on Oct. 31.

At approximately 12:56 a.m. that morning, Fox was driving a car that hit a utility pole on Route 214. Fox was transported to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital with serious injuries and was later transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital. A passenger in the vehicle, Andrew Hernandez, 24, of Ledyard, was taken to The William W. Backus Hospital.

Due to extensive damage to the vehicle, Ledyard police, the Ledyard Fire Department, Gales Ferry Fire Department, Ledyard Volunteer Emergency Squad, American Ambulance Paramedic and L+M Paramedic units responded. Both Fox and Hernandez had to be extricated from the wreckage by firefighters.

As a result of an investigation of the incident by Ledyard police, Fox was charged with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, operating a vehicle while under the influence, and reckless driving. Fox was released on a $10,000 bond and will appear in New London Superior Court on Dec. 20.
