Charter Oak says it’s tops in local mortgages

Groton-based Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, citing statistics compiled by a Boston-based financial information service, said Wednesday that it originated more mortgages last year than any other lender in southeastern Connecticut.

The Warren Group's Mortgage Marketshare Report credited Charter Oak with originating 1,169 mortgages last year in New London and Windham counties. It was the fourth consective year Charter Oak received credit as the No. 1 local mortgage lender.

Charter Oak's total of $139 million in residential mortgage business throughout the region last year also ranked No. 1 in the two-county area, according to The Warren Group, publisher of The Commercial Record.
