Support network for parents of kids with special needs meets May 7

New London - The Connecticut Family Support Network Parent Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. May 7 at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital.

The first part of the meeting will comprise a focus group with the state Department of Public Health. Parents are encouraged to give their input about services for children and youth with special health care needs, including behavioral health needs. The department will use the information to write a plan for how they can improve services and how they will measure success.

The second part of the meeting will focus on how parents and caregivers can find resources. A local grandparent will share how she found local and state services to help her 5-year-old grandson who has special needs.

At the end of the meeting, Walmart gift cards will be raffled.

Admission is free and new parents are welcome. Light refreshments will be served. For information, contact April Dipollina at: (860) 271-4371 or send her an email at: .
