Norwich man charged with home invasion

Norwich — A Norwich man allegedly entered the home of his ex-girlfriend Saturday night or early Sunday morning and assaulted her in front of two children, according to police.

Devan T. Jarmon, 26, of 514 New London Turnpike was charged today with home invasion, second-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct.

He was also charged with first-degree criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and interfering with an emergency call from an arrest warrant related to a previous incident with the same woman.

Police said they received a call about an overnight domestic disturbance in the Westside section of the city at 8:38 a.m. this morning. Jarmon had left the victim’s home by the time police were called, they said, but he was arrested on Shipping Street a short time later.

Jarmon was held on a $101,500 bond and he is scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on Monday.
