Tim Bowles and Mike France to run for 42nd House district

Ledyard – This year’s election for the 42nd House District might look familiar to voters: Democratic incumbent Tim Bowles once again will face off against Republican Mike France.

The 42nd district includes Ledyard, Preston and part of Montville.

Bowles, who is serving his first term as a state representative, was nominated by Democrats on Tuesday at the Bill Library. He said he was pleased to be nominated for a second term.

“There’s a lot of work to be done, we have a lot of challenges,” said Bowles, “but I think the time is right for getting economic development going in eastern Connecticut.”

Bowles has a master’s degree in child development and operates the Zion Hill Farm in Preston with his wife, Donna.

France, who lost to Bowles by 302 votes in the 2012 race, was nominated at Ledyard Town Hall last week. He is the chairman of the town’s Republican Town Committee and a town councilor.

An electrical engineer who also has experience in project management, France is a 20-year Navy veteran.
