UPDATED: New London man's death ruled suicide
New London — City police say a 56-year-old resident apparently jumped to his death Friday afternoon outside his home on Montauk Avenue.
The body was first discovered shortly after noon in a rear parking lot of 429 Montauk Ave., near a back porch, police said in a statement. The man’s body was first discovered by a nurse walking to work on a nearby sidewalk.
A local doctor and nurses from an adjoining office attempted to treat the man for his injuries. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police ruled the death a suicide following an investigation by police and an investigator with the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
