Become Waterford Green and serve others
The Waterford Green Party (WGP), joined by community volunteers, took to the streets on June 24 to pick up over 99 pounds of litter, braving torrential rain and blistering heat to do so.
This isn't the first time the party has donated its time and energy to service since its founding in 2013. The organization founded a scholarship fund for Waterford High School students, raised hundreds for charity through benefit concerts, and spent dozens of hours conducting other cleanups.
This is the kind of politics that I believe our town, state, and country must practice; leading by example, prioritizing community, and putting aside political rhetoric in favor of direct action and service to others. I am very proud of the WGP's dedication, and I challenge each political party to follow in the footsteps of the WGP by going beyond the ballot box to practice what they preach. Changing politics is never easy, but it all starts with a single step.
The Waterford Greens are always looking for volunteers for their charitable events and for people interested in running for office. Their next meeting and nominating convention will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 29 at the Waterford Public Library.
