Jasmine Thomas wasn't a good 3-point shooter in her first six seasons. The Connecticut Sun point guard averaged 29.6-percent prior to this year.

Thomas is shooting 49.3-percent this season, fifth best in the WNBA. She and teammate Shekinna Stricklen are tied for second in the league for most made 3-pointers (34), and Thomas needs one more to tie her single-season high.

Those numbers illustrate why the Sun have been white-hot since early June. They play at the one-win San Antonio Stars on Wednesday (8 p.m., Twitter).

Connecticut lost its first four games this season and were 1-5 at the end of May. It averaged 78.6 points during those six games.

The Sun (8-7) have averaged a league-high 91.7 points over their last nine games, slightly better than the mighty Minnesota Lynx (90.6 ppg). No other team has averaged over 87 points.

Connecticut has shot 49.3-percent over its last nine games, too. Only the defending world champion Los Angeles Sparks have shot better (50.1-percent).

San Antonio (1-14) finally got to celebrate last Friday as it beat the Chicago Sky, 89-82.

Kayla McBride has averaged a team-high 15.3 points with 4.5 rebounds for the Stars. Former UConn great Moriah Jefferson has shot 58.6-percent and averaged 14.1 points and five assists over her last seven games. She’s also averaged 2 steals this season, tying Los Angeles' Alana Beard for the league league.
