    When: Saturday, 1:30 p.m.

Where: Cadet Memorial Field, New London.

Records: Nichols 2-0 overall, Coast Guard 1-1.

Players to watch: Nichols, QB Tony Martignoli (48-for-79, 348 yards, 2 TDs, 3 INTs; 31 carries, 44 yards, 3 TDs), RB Jacob Duffrene (15 carries, 113 yards, 2 TDs; 7 catches, 85 yards, 1 TD), WR Eric Mooney (15 catches, 82 yards), LB Brett McEvoy (26 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 sack), LB Christopher Lawrence (16 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss).

Coast Guard, QB Ethan Goldcamp (52-for-89, 572 yards, 3 TDs, 2 INTs), RB Jeff Porter (12 carries, 72 yards, 1 TD), RB Cam Cecchini (18 carries, 66 yards, 2 TDs), WR Justin Moffatt (11 catches, 146 yards, 2 TDs), WR Cody Bain (10 catches, 88 yards, 1 TD), WR Chip Crowley (7 catches, 118 yards), DB Ryan Robertson (19 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery), DB Patrick Crowley (13 tackles, 1 INT).

Analysis: Coast Guard coach Bill George said after last week's 28-13 loss to Union that he thought there were some unusual "mistiming" problems with the Bears' passing game. George took that back at this week's team luncheon. "I don't think the timing was as off as I thought," George said. "As I went through the film for the 19th time, there wasn't any glaring things. ... The run was poor. That's got to be fixed up. We've got to get better up front." Goldcamp was 32-for-57 for 332 yards passing in the loss — including a career-high nine catches for 91 yards and a touchdown to Moffatt, a freshman — but was sacked four times, giving Coast Guard a total of minus-four yards rushing. The offensive line was in a different alignment for the first time last week, with junior right guard Hudson Dunaway moving to center and sophomore center Colton Rausch moving to right guard, but George said the switch went well. "The thing is, are you a football team? Are you moving the ball? Are you making some stops on defense?" George said. "We're doing those things." ... Nichols has wins this season over Westfield State (19-13) and Anna Maria (28-21). Martignoli ran for two touchdowns and threw one for the Bison in last week's win over Anna Maria, which allowed Nichols to move to 2-0 for the first time since 2000. ... Coast Guard remains without all-conference wide receiver Darius Adams (hamstring injury), who had 1,054 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns last season. Adams was hurt in the preseason and has not played. ... Nichols topped Coast Guard 24-14 last season, amassing 450 yards offense. The Bison jumped out to a 21-0 lead and survived six turnovers to claim their first win in series history. ... This is Coast Guard's final nonconference game before beginning NEWMAC play next week at Norwich University in Northfield, Vt., where the teams will battle for The Mug.
