    UConn football releases 2018 schedule

Storrs — UConn football will kick off the 2018 season by hosting the defending American Athletic Conference champion.

Central Florida, which completed an undefeated season by beating Auburn in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, visits Rentschler Field in East Hartford on Thursday, Aug. 30.

It is one of six home games for the Huskies and the only one not on a Saturday. UConn also entertains former Yankee Conference opponents Rhode Island (Sept. 15) and UMass (Oct. 27) as well as playing league games against Cincinnati (Sept. 29), Southern Methodist University (Nov. 10) and Temple (Nov. 24).

After their season opener, the Huskies visit Boise State on Saturday, Sept. 8. Other road trips include stops at Syracuse (Sept. 22), Memphis (Oct. 6), South Florida (Oct. 20), Tulsa (Nov. 3) and East Carolina (Nov. 17).

Game times for the first three games will be released in June and the other start times in the fall.

The Huskies will be looking to improve on last season's 3-9 overall record.
