A number of current and past NFL and NBA players are expected to play in "The State Farm Showdown," a celebrity golf event hosted by Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Houston Rockets point guard Chris Paul on June 27-28 at the Mohegan Sun Golf Club in Sprague.

Among those who have confirmed to appear are UConn basketball legend Ray Allen, All-Pro wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald of the Arizona Cardinals, Fitzgerald's Arizona teammate Patrick Peterson, Cleveland Cavaliers stars J.R. Smith and Kyle Korver, former NFL running back Reggie Bush, current Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen, former NFL kicker Josh Scobee, former Patriots star Rodney Harrison, former NFL cornerback Rashean Mathis, current Memphis Grizzlies point guard Michael Conley and former NBA great Michael Finley.

Tickets for the event, which will pit teams of NBA and NFL players, are $20 for individual days and $30 for a two-day package, and can purchased at Ticketmaster.com or at the Mohegan Sun Box office.

There is no on-site public parking for the tournament, but guests who purchase tickets will be able to take a free shuttle from the Mohegan Sun's group hotel area at Sky Tower. It will leave at 8:30 a.m. on June 27 and 9:30 a.m. on June 28, returning from the golf course starting at 5 p.m. Per each paying adult, their ticket gives acces to up to two people under 17 to join them on the shuttle.

• Mic Wilson (Stony Brook) hit a two-run home run, a bases-clearing double and scored twice as the Mystic Schooners thumped the Plymouth Pilgrims 12-6. James Proctor (Princeton) allowed just two hits over six innings with one earned run, six strikeouts and four walks to earn the win for Mystic (5-6) and Sebastiano Santorelli (Seton Hall) had three hits, including a double, with two runs and two RBI. Also, Nick Cardieri (Stetson) had three hits, including a solo home run, with two RBI and a run and Brett Rodriguez (Wofford) had two hits, two runs and an RBI.

• Rodriguez was named to the weekly New England Collegiate Baseball League honor roll. Rodriguez hit safely in all five games last week with eight hits, five runs, four doubles, a home run and five RBI. He finished the week by going 3-for-4 in a win over Vermont and 2-for-4 with two doubles and three runs in an 11-9 loss to Newport.

Tigers suspended

• Connecticut's series opener at the Vermont Lake Monsters was suspended by rain after just seven pitches and will resume at 6 p.m. Tuesday as part of a doubleheader. The completed suspended will nine innings followed by a seven-inning game.
