Editor's note: This version corrects the day of the talk.

A supper with Hilary Jacobs Hendel, author of “It’s Not Always Depression,” will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at Zachs Hillel House, Connecticut College, New London. This is a program of The Jewish Federation of Eastern Connecticut.

She consulted on the psychological development of characters on AMC’s “Mad Men.” She has published articles in The New York Times and professional journals.

Her talk in New London, which is scheduled to begin around 6:45 p.m., will touch on such issues as what emotions really are, what the difference is between thoughts and emotions, why anxiety and depression are not necessarily a flaw in chemistry, and how people can use emotions to enhance well being and to have better relationships.

People need to RSVP for supper by Thursday to office.jfec@gmail.com.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
