Norwich brothers arrested after alleged assault on neighbor

Norwich — Police say a social media argument sparked a fight that led to the arrests of two brothers Thursday night for allegedly assaulting a neighbor.

Police allege Nelson Munoz, 20, and Kenneth Munoz, 19, both of 12 ½ Terrace Ave., got into an argument over social media with a resident down the road. Police allege the argument culminated in the brothers assaulting the resident in front of his home. The alleged victim was treated and released from the hospital with minor injuries, according to police, who arrived at the scene around 6:15 p.m.

Police said they found a knife and a blunt object at the scene but could not determine who wielded the weapons, which did not cause any injuries.

The brothers face charges of second-degree assault, second-degree threatening and breach of peace.

Police said Kenneth Munoz was released after posting a $5,000 cash surety bond, while Nelson Munoz was released after posting a $2,500 bond. They are due in Norwich Superior Court March 28.
