East Lyme — Firefighters extinguished a blaze Tuesday evening that caused extensive damage to a single-family residence at 15 Carriage Hill Drive, Niantic Fire Department Deputy Chief Jim Barone said. No one was injured.

Firefighters arriving on scene about 8 p.m. found flames coming out of one end of the house and extinguished the fire in about 20 minutes, he said.

He said Niantic and Flanders Fire Departments responded, along with a Rapid Intervention Team from Old Saybrook, and an Old Lyme ambulance. Old Lyme and Waterford provided coverage at the stations during the fire.

The fire marshal is investigating the fire, he said.
