New London — An active warrant has been issued for Christopher Whitley, 32, in connection with the Saturday morning shooting on Walden Avenue, the New London Police Department said Thursday afternoon in a news release. Police said the victim, an adult man, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Police said that Whitley, of 207 Jefferson Ave., Apt. 3, is possibly armed and should be considered dangerous. They are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to call (860) 447-5269, ext. 0, or anonymously text the information to 847411.

The warrant for Whitley lists the charges against him as attempted murder, first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment.

The court set bond for this warrant at $1 million, and there is also an unrelated felony narcotics warrant out for Whitley.

Police responded to 33 Walden Ave. at 11:34 a.m. Saturday for the report of a person shot and found the semiconscious victim on the sidewalk. Police said the victim, who was shot at least twice, was taken to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and then flown to Yale New Haven Hospital.
