    Eighth City Wide Basketball Tournament — Saturday, July 27, 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Toby May Field, New London. The free event, organized by Abounding Grace Ministries, will feature 5-on-5 games in three age divisions: Youth (9-11), juniors (11-14) and seniors (15-18). Registration is first come, first serve.     Surftown 5K training — Kelley’s Pace in Mystic and the Hartford Marathon Foundation are offering a six-week training program to prepare for the Surftown 5K in Westerly on Sept. 8. The training group will meet on Mondays at 6 p.m. from July 29-Sept. 2 at Kelley’s Pace. Cost is $15, which includes a $5 discount off the Surftown 5K entry fee. Contact: (860) 536-8175.

    TRIATHLON

    Proud to TRI Youth Triathlon — Sept. 7 at Camp Harkness in Waterford, beginning at 8 a.m. Run by recreation departments from New London, Ledyard and Waterford. Cost is $25 per child before Aug. 23, $30 after Aug. 23, $35 day of event and an additional $10 if not a USAT member.
