Schenectady, N.Y. — The Coast Guard Academy volleyball won a pair of impressive five-set matches during Saturday's Union Tournament.

The Bears (8-3) opened the day with a 20-25, 25-18, 25-17, 21-25 and 15-13 victory over host Union, the ended the tournament by rallying for a 25-19, 12-25, 21-25, 26-24 and 15-8 win over Williams.

Against Union, senior Angelou Dunton led the way with 18 kills, 14 digs and three aces while sophomore Amanda Dake added 17 kills, 13 digs and five aces, senior Makenna Martin had 33 assists and 13 digs, freshman Noelle Tursky had 21 assists and junior Veronica Hine had 25 digs.

In the win over Williams, Tursky had 20 doubles, 12 kills, 16 assists and four block assists, sophomore Mary Sweet had 12 kills and five block assists, Dunton had 11 kills and 12 digs, sophomore Maddie James had 10 kills and Martin finished with 30 assists.

In other matches:

• Connecticut College split a pair of matches, losing to Emerson 3-0 and beating host Eastern Connecticut 3-1. Grace McGee had 45 assists and 19 digs, Katie Howley had 19 kills and Avery Light had 20 kills on the day for Conn (4-2). East Lyme's Madison Bell had 14 digs for ECSU (3-3) against Conn.

Men's soccer

• Coast Guard scored a pair of second-half goals to break the game open and defeat rival Merchant Marine Academy 3-0 in Kings Point, N.Y. Mike Daunt converted a penalty kick in the 17th minute for the Bears (3-2) before Seth Anderson and Robbie Fugett added goals in the second half. Daunt assisted on Anderson's goal and Brock Hassett set up Fugett on a corner kick. Goalie Dakota Harich made three goals for CGA, which outshot the Mariners 17-12.

• Steve Yeonas scored in the first half as No. 18 Conn College beat Bates 1-0 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game. Freddy Stokes assisted on the goal in the 41st minute and AJ Marcucci made five saves for Conn (4-0, 2-0).

• Mitchell and SUNY Old Westbury played to a 1-1 double overtime draw in New London. The Mariners (1-2-1) trailed 1-0 but tied the game in the opening minute of the second half when Old Lyme's William Ferguson converted a penalty kick after Diego Di Carlantonio was taken down in the penalty area. Michael Kennedy made three saves for Mitchell.

• No. 5 Georgetown cruised to a 4-1 victory over UConn. The Huskies (2-3), who were outshot 23-7, scored on a goal by Felix Metzler just 1:38 into the second half.

Women's soccer

• Old Lyme's Mya Johnson scored her fourth goal of the year as Conn College beat Bates 1-0 in the NESCAC. Johnson, with Zoe Stublarec assisting, scored in the 33rd minute. Kate Pelletier made two saves for Conn (4-0, 2-0).

• Salem's J'Naya Kelly scored in overtime, her second game-winner in as many games, as Mitchell beat Northern Vermont-Lyndon 3-2. Lindsey Fairbank and Madison Nicynski also scored for Mitchell (2-2). East Lyme's Victoria McCormack made 13 saves for Lyndon (0-4).   

Field hockey

• Bates beat Conn College 4-1 in the NESCAC. Meghan Gazard scored for Conn (1-4, 0-3) with Gillian Iacobucci assisting.

Men's and women's cross country

• Johnson & Wales won both team titles at the Mitchell Invitational. J&W won the men's race with 30 points and the women's race in a tiebreaker over Elms. Both finished with 41 points, but J&W won the tiebreaker by virtue of its higher sixth-place finisher. NFA's Evan Carney was Mitchell's top finisher in the men's race (ninth, 18:16.3) while Grace Burns led the Mitchell women (25th, 27:17.1).
