Former Salem resident to serve 4½ years for drug sale charges
A 42-year-old man formerly living in Salem pleaded guilty Monday in New London Superior Court to possession of heroin with intent to sell.
Troy McDermott, now residing in Marlborough, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin with intent to sell and violation of conditional discharge. He will be sentenced in February to 4½ years in prison.
According to State's Attorney Michael L. Regan, the Statewide Narcotics Task Force searched McDermott's home at 568 Hartford Road in Salem in July 2018 and seized 93 grams of heroin, 68 grams of crack cocaine, 14 packs of Suboxone, 30 grams of marijuana and $844 in cash.
Two children who reside in the home could have accessed the drugs, according to Regan. Court documents indicate that most of the drugs were found in a silver canteen in the kitchen, and that there was a playroom just off the kitchen.
At the time of his arrest, McDermott was on conditional discharge, having pleaded guilty in September 2017 to interfering with police, possession of a controlled substance and reckless endangerment and been sentenced to six months in prison.
